This report presents the ComNetNEET project, a European initiative aimed at promoting the social inclusion and employability of young people who are NEET.

This report examines the rising share of young people (16-24) not in education, employment or training in the United Kingdom. It looks into the changing composition of NEETs facing challenges related to low qualifications, health issues, or economic difficulties. 

This report investigates why the UK’s NEET rate has been rising since 2019, and why it has long been higher than in many other countries. It explores the potential links with factors such as current labour market conditions, health and well-being levels, as well as social support systems. 

This study investigates international NEET rates and identifies successful initiatives that have helped reduce these rates. More specifically, it offers a comparative data analysis on trends in NEET rates (ages 15–24) across OECD countries between 2015 and 2023, and draws on case studies from Australia, Denmark, France, and the Netherlands.

Young women in the UK and France who are not in education, employment, or training (NEET) and economically inactive (EI) face significant challenges. This research suggests that these women often experience poverty, long-term welfare dependency, and poor living standards, and are largely isolated from the labour market and education. 

This report examines the quality of the curriculum offer and careers guidance in place at key transition points from education into work, and looks at how it might be improved.

This research engaged with 315 young people (16-24) from across West Yorkshire to enable them to share their experience of Not being in Employment, Education or Training (NEET).
